Archie Holmes And the Case of the Missing Art...

Kannadiga me has been surrounded by Tamizhans and Tamizhachis over the last few months - it's kinda like being in undergrad at Trichy, all over agian for me! Given my love and penchant for languages, my affection for Tamizh has been rediscovered. Voila! Here's further proof of how I spent 60 minutes last Thursday, rekindling my relationship with Tamizh.

Reference: Ciara likes to refer to Witty as Archie Boy at times. Witty reminds her of a handsome, dashing, funny, girl crazy, brilliant professor of hers in undergrad, Archie Holmes. Elementary, my dear reader...

Witty to Ciara:
Been a while since I sent you such an email. So, here goes: Bore adikiddhu. Yedha exciting / interesting aa sollu...!

Ciara: Translate this, Witty boy! THANIMAYILE INIMAI KAANA MUDIYUMA?

Witty:

Ciara:

hahahaha...you sure do know how to test my patience Archie baby...

Areille...I would have given the answer away in a second as well but I also had some pleasure envisioning Witty getting really frustrated and pacing up and down pulling all the hair in his goatee out...starting at his phone intently deciding whether to cheat and call Stern or H...

It's amazing what Friday afternoons do to people!!

Oooh...the Tamizh Thaai Vaazhthu..haven't heard that in sooo long!!

I believe that "thekkanam" refers to the Deccan - the whole Indian peninsula under a certain river - can't recall which one...so her crescent-like brow is Deccan and the fragrant Tilagam is Tamil Nadu?

Boy that was a tough one!!

Also I feel like an imposter Thamizhachi with my name compared to Pavazhamalli...:)

Bravo! Bull's eye..

"Deccan is her crescent-like brow on which the fragrant 'Tilak'
is the blessed Dravidian land."

This is from the TN govt website.. so it better be true :)
